Terms of Service
Effective date: June 29, 2026
Welcome. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of longislanddungeonmaster.com and the services offered by Long Island Dungeon Master (“LIDM,” “we,” “us”) — a Dungeons & Dragons service and content brand run by Frank Papaleo. By using this site, booking a session, or subscribing to our content, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site or services.
Who We Are
LIDM offers Dungeon-Master-for-hire services — curated campaigns, one-shots, DM workshops and coaching, custom adventure commissions — along with a newsletter (The Weekly One-Shot) and original tabletop content. Some services are booked and paid for separately; this page covers the general rules that apply across all of them.
Eligibility
This site and our services are intended for adults (18 or older). If you book a game for a group that includes minors, you are responsible for their participation and for any required parental consent.
Booking, Payments & Refunds
- Booking. Sessions are scheduled through Calendly and confirmed by email. A booking is a request for a specific date and time; it’s confirmed once we reply to confirm.
- Payment. Fees for paid services are agreed in writing before the session and processed through our payment provider. Subscription pricing for The Weekly One-Shot is shown on Substack and billed by Substack.
- Cancellations & rescheduling. If you need to reschedule or cancel, let us know as early as you can. We’ll always try to find a new time. Specific refund or rescheduling terms for a paid engagement are agreed at booking; absent a separate agreement, fees for a session canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be non-refundable.
- Newsletter subscriptions. Paid newsletter subscriptions are managed entirely through Substack and are subject to Substack’s billing and cancellation terms. You can cancel at any time from your Substack account.
Our Content & Intellectual Property
The original writing, adventures, artwork, designs, and other materials we create and publish — on this site, in the newsletter, and in our games — belong to LIDM unless stated otherwise. You’re welcome to enjoy and use free materials we share for your own personal, at-the-table use. Please don’t resell, redistribute, or pass off our content as your own.
Dungeons & Dragons, D&D, and related names are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast LLC. LIDM is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast. Where we build on open-licensed game material, we do so under its license; trademarked names are used only nominatively to describe compatibility.
SKU Crawlers™ is an original game in development by Frank Papaleo. The name SKU Crawlers™ and the game’s content are our intellectual property. References to it on this site are for information about a project in progress.
Gnash™, the Long Island Dungeon Master mimic mascot, is an original character and trademark of Frank Papaleo. The Gnash™ name and design are our intellectual property.
Your Conduct
Our tables are welcoming and built for everyone to have a good time. When you use our services or interact with our community spaces, you agree to be respectful and not to harass, threaten, or discriminate against others. We reserve the right to end a session or remove anyone from our community spaces for disruptive, abusive, or unsafe behavior, without refund where the behavior caused the cancellation.
Third-Party Services
We rely on third-party tools to run things — including Calendly (booking), Substack (newsletter), and GitHub Pages (hosting) — and our games may use third-party virtual-tabletop or video platforms. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.
Disclaimers
This site and our free content are provided “as is.” We do our best to keep everything accurate, available, and fun, but we don’t guarantee the site will be uninterrupted or error-free. Tabletop games are for entertainment; nothing here is professional advice.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LIDM and Frank Papaleo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or services. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific service in question.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. Continuing to use the site or services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
