Fog is honest but not armored: the whole map image travels to your players and the unexplored part is hidden on their screens. A determined player with browser devtools can peek behind it. Keep real secrets out of the map image itself.

About Gnasher's Grimoire

A free companion for the Dungeon Master. One file, runs offline, no account, no server. Your books stay yours.

Look

Six packs. A pack repaints the app and the pages of your books. It never moves a control and it never changes the writing faces, only the colours and the figures.

Figures

The face on hit points, armour class, ability scores, DCs, initiative and roll results. Every pack brings one; choose one here and it stays with you whatever pack you pick.

Your starting stock

The books that came with the app.

What stays on your computer

Everything. Your books, notes, tables, saves and PDFs live in this browser, and nothing leaves it on its own. The one exception is the live table: same-room pairing works with no internet at all; the standard pairing code goes through a small LIDM relay so your players can find your table, and when two networks cannot reach each other directly the encrypted link may pass through public STUN or TURN servers. What you push (maps, handouts, rolls) rides that link and nothing else does. Back the binder up with Export .keeper, or keep it on a USB drive with Binder on a drive.

Your PDFs are stored in this browser only and are not included in .keeper backups or the Drive Binder, so keep the PDF files themselves too.

At the table

Want the map on a TV? Open the Satchel in the TV's browser, make a character called Screen, join your table with it, and the players' view of the board fills the screen, fog and all. Your laptop stays the DM's screen.

Press N for the notebook. Type what just happened; find it later by pressing Space and typing any word of it. Notes ride the Chronicle and your .keeper backup.

Something broken?

Report a problem. The app writes up the technical details, you read every word of it, and you send it yourself. The app never sends anything on its own.

PREAMBLE
The goals of the Open Font License (OFL) are to stimulate worldwide
development of collaborative font projects, to support the font creation
efforts of academic and linguistic communities, and to provide a free and
open framework in which fonts may be shared and improved in partnership
with others.

The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and
redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The
fonts, including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded,
redistributed and/or sold with any software provided that any reserved
names are not used by derivative works. The fonts and derivatives,
however, cannot be released under any other type of license. The
requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply
to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives.

DEFINITIONS
"Font Software" refers to the set of files released by the Copyright
Holder(s) under this license and clearly marked as such. This may
include source files, build scripts and documentation.

"Reserved Font Name" refers to any names specified as such after the
copyright statement(s).

"Original Version" refers to the collection of Font Software components as
distributed by the Copyright Holder(s).

"Modified Version" refers to any derivative made by adding to, deleting,
or substituting -- in part or in whole -- any of the components of the
Original Version, by changing formats or by porting the Font Software to a
new environment.

"Author" refers to any designer, engineer, programmer, technical
writer or other person who contributed to the Font Software.

PERMISSION & CONDITIONS
Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining
a copy of the Font Software, to use, study, copy, merge, embed, modify,
redistribute, and sell modified and unmodified copies of the Font
Software, subject to the following conditions:

1) Neither the Font Software nor any of its individual components,
in Original or Modified Versions, may be sold by itself.

2) Original or Modified Versions of the Font Software may be bundled,
redistributed and/or sold with any software, provided that each copy
contains the above copyright notice and this license. These can be
included either as stand-alone text files, human-readable headers or
in the appropriate machine-readable metadata fields within text or
binary files as long as those fields can be easily viewed by the user.

3) No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font
Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the corresponding
Copyright Holder. This restriction only applies to the primary font name as
presented to the users.

4) The name(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) or the Author(s) of the Font
Software shall not be used to promote, endorse or advertise any
Modified Version, except to acknowledge the contribution(s) of the
Copyright Holder(s) and the Author(s) or with their explicit written
permission.

5) The Font Software, modified or unmodified, in part or in whole,
must be distributed entirely under this license, and must not be
distributed under any other license. The requirement for fonts to
remain under this license does not apply to any document created
using the Font Software.

TERMINATION
This license becomes null and void if any of the above conditions are
not met.

Your tables
Players

Each player opens Gnasher's Satchel, taps the pairing ring, and pastes your invite; their reply comes back here. Once linked, the War Table lights their screens by itself.

Handouts
The quiet word
Pick a player in the To row above; whispers go to that chair alone.
Packets

A dossier you hand a player: the face they get, and the notes they never do. Build one from anything in your Grimoire and it splits itself.

Table rolls
Player rolls land here and in the session dice log.
How the Theater works
1. Link the table. Tap Open the table by code and read the code aloud (something like EMBER-42). Each player types it into their Satchel (the wax seal, top left) and taps Join. No internet at the venue? Tap Same room first, or share your phone's hotspot; the + Invite by paste button trades the link as copied text instead.
2. Run the fight. Nothing extra to do: your combat tracker drives every paired Satchel. Each player sees the order, and a YOUR TURN banner when it's them.
3. Handouts. Title, text or image, Push text or Push image. Pick a name in the To row to whisper it to one player alone; everyone else never sees it.
4. Resting seats. A player's phone dozing off shows their seat as resting. Keep playing; whatever you push is held and delivered the moment their screen wakes. Their Satchel rejoins by itself.
5. The code sticks. A saved table keeps the same code, so your players type it once and it still works next week. Reload this page mid-session and the table reopens on its own, seats and all, with nobody typing anything. Only Change the code makes them retype.
Players start at longislanddungeonmaster.com/satchel.
